Subsidy removal: NEC have recommended pain relievers – Keyamo to Nigerians
Festus Keyamo, former Minister of State for Labour and Employment, has appealed to Nigerians to endure the temporary pains caused by the removal of fuel subsidies.
In a statement, he likened the situation to a patient undergoing surgery or chemotherapy for a malignant tumour.
He emphasized that the pain relievers recommended by the National Economic Council would help alleviate the hardships experienced during this period of economic repositioning.
Keyamo likened the subsidy removal to a necessary medical procedure that requires patience and understanding from the public. He urged Nigerians to endure the short-term discomfort for the long-term benefit of a healthy and vibrant economy. He cited global recognition of the need for these economic reforms, affirming that Nigeria is taking essential steps to reposition its economy.
He tweeted, “If a patient has a malignant tumour, the patient has to endure the pains of surgery or some chemotherapy before the patient can be hale and hearty again. What is required are pain relievers as these treatments are being administered.
