There is a war of attrition in Nigeria, this country cannot be Islamized – Dr. Paul Enenche
The senior Pastor of Dunamis International Gospel Centre, Dr. Paul Enenche, has described the killings in some parts of Nigeria as ‘a war of attrition.’
According to the cleric, the killings in the country were deliberately orchestrated by some enemies of the state with the aim of wiping out a religion or a group of people from the face of the country.
Dr. Enenche made this revelation on Wednesday at the end of the three days fasting and prayer programme organised by the Christian Association if Nigeria, CAN, at the Ecumenical Centre, Abuja for Nigeria.
The well-attended programme had Cardinal John Olorunfemi Onaiyekan of the Catholic Archdiocese of Abuja, Rev Samson Ayokunle, Dr. Mrs. Becky Enenche, CAN President, Bishop John Praise, Very Rev. STV Adegbite, Methodist Bishop, Diocese of Ikeja, Archbishop Oche Job Methodist Archbishop, Archdiocese of Abuja and other revered ministers of the gospel.
In his sermon, Dr. Enenche noted that the senseless and ceaseless killings in the country are targeted as destroying and decimating the entity called Nigeria.
The preacher, who anchored his sermon from Ephesians 6:10-18, 2 Corinthians 10:3-6, stated that it is totally out of place to think that the ongoing battle in Nigeria is all about herdsmen or grazing land; rather, it is the battle for the elimination of religious freedom, tolerance and secularism of the Nigerian state.
He voiced his conviction thus, “The Bible makes it clear that Christians are involved in battle consistently. Generally, the Christian life is a call unto battle; the Christian life is characterised with warfare. Identifying with Christ calls for battle. This is why the Bible says from our anchor Scripture in Ephesians 6:12 that we wrestle. Beloved, I want to let you know that whether we are interested in the battle or not, the truth is, we wrestle; whether we looked for anybody’s trouble or not, whether we are nice to people or not nice, it is important to know that we wrestle; we are involved in a fight.
“Also, it is important to know that this wrestling is a spiritual warfare; but once in a while, the battle enters the physical dimension. For example, the type of battle currently going in Nigeria has left the spiritual realm and stepped into the physical realm. This is because of the strategic nature of Nigeria in the world.
“Nigeria is a very strategic nation in the world; Nigeria is the largest black nation in the world; Nigeria has the largest Christian gatherings in the world. I don’t think that there is any nation of the earth that has the large number of the Catholic churches that we have in Nigeria; if there is, it may be South America. In Nigeria, we have great church edifices; and also God has a prophetic agenda for Nigeria.
“So, prophetically, Nigeria is God’s anchor of the end time move of the Holy Spirit; the release of missionaries from Nigeria to different nations of the world and the rapid and aggressive growth of Christianity in Nigeria are indications to show that Nigeria is strategic to the world. Christianity came into Nigeria fully around 1854 and overran the whole nation. The Enemy is not happy to see the growth of Christianity in Nigeria. This is the reason for the battle. So, we are in a wrestling as a nation on the basis of this thing.
“Now, it is important to know that nature of this battle. By my medical training, I want to let you know that the best physician is the one who knows diagnosis; until you can diagnose an issue as doctor; treatment is a waste of time. In the same way, until you can diagnose issues in the physical realm, you cannot proffer solutions.
So, what is the nature of this battle?
“It is the battle for the soul of Nigeria; a supremacy for national dominion and control
It is important to know that the battle we are facing currently in this country, Nigeria, is the battle for the soul of Nigeria; it is the battle for the supremacy of national dominion and control.
“We have heard some group of people say many times that Nigeria is their father’s land; they say that Nigeria is their father’s inheritance, so they want to take it by fighting and killing people. So, it is battle for the soul of Nigeria; a battle for supremacy and control.
“It is the battle for the decimation and destruction of the great Nation called Nigeria
Also, it is important to know that this battle is the battle for the decimation and destruction of the great Nation called Nigeria.
“This is because it is not possible to have development and progress in Nigeria amidst wars and killings. Nigeria remains the largest black nation on Earth. Nigeria is a nation to watch as far as other nations of the world are concerned; and so, when the enemy saw the greatness of Nigeria, he says, let’s destroy Nigeria. But that enemy has failed in Jesus’ Name.
“It is the battle for the elimination of religious freedom; religion tolerance and the securialsm of the Nigerian state.
“We can also see that it is the battle for the elimination of religious freedom; religion tolerance and the securialsm of the Nigerian state. Now, I don’t want anyone to be deceived that the battle is all about herdsmen or grazing land; rather, it is the battle for the elimination of religious freedom, tolerance and secularism of the Nigerian state. I give you an example: The two Reverend fathers that were killed in Benue State were not on any farm land; they were inside the church building and the Bandits and Jihadists went there to kill them.
“Also, Plateau State has no anti-grazing law and nobody is mentioning grazing in Plateau State but these wicked agents of darkness went to Birkin ladin, Gana Rock and other places, killed and burnt people alive. So, this battle is not about the issue of land to graze cow; rather, it is a battle for the elimination of religion freedom, tolerance and the secularism of the Nigerian state.
“It is a battle with a flavour of religious and ethnic cleansing and to wipe out a whole community. Another agenda or the nature of this battle is that it is a battle with a flavour of religious and ethnic cleansing and to wipe out a whole community. We have been told that there are communities in Plateau State where the occupants have been chased out; the demonic herdsmen and strangers are living in those lands now.
“We have a statistics of 54 of such villages or more where they have killed and chased people out of the villages and even renamed some of the villages or changed the names to other names. So, we are dealing with a very devious, pernicious, satanic, demonic, agenda and it shall be arrested in Jesus’ Name.
“It is a battle with multi-level collaboration and collusion, both internal and external
Also, we know that this battle is a battle with multi-level collaboration and collusion, both internal and external. First of all, from the official quarters, we heard that people came from outside the country, precisely from Libya and they are using arms to fight the nation; then we heard again that this battle is a struggle between local herdsmen and farmers.
“The third thing we heard was that they are some politicians sponsoring the killings. Beloved, in my opinions, all the three things are correct. First of all, we have external collaboration; forces from outside this country are involved in these killings. Secondly, we have people in Nigeria who are behind the killing and thirdly, we have political leadership both in authority and out of authority that are all in collaboration for a strategic agenda against the destiny of Nigeria; but in the Name of Jesus, it has already failed.
“It is a battle of what is called the war of attrition. Attrition means the process of reducing the strength of the people by sustained attack or pressure. It is to keep pressuring people until their strength reduces. When people are attacked, as they try to recover, then the attackers return to keep the pressure or fight the people until the people are wearied into submission. That is what we are faced with right now. And I want us to understand this.
“This is always the strategy of the Devil; to introduce threat and intimidation. The strategy of the Enemies is; Let us do terrible things to them; let us kill women, children, burn houses and put it on social media and everywhere, let people see it. When they do this, they will put the climate of fear on the nation.
Beloved, but our concern is, even though we have been called to fight, Scriptures make it clear that we are destined to win.
On the way forward, Dr. Enenche suggested that it was high time Nigerian drew closer to God in prayers and intercession.
His words, “It is important that from the altars, let our declarations and decrees go forth; let people know that the body of Christ is aware of killings going on in this country; it is good to tell the Devil and his agents that we are not children; even a child in kindergarten understands what is going on. From every altar, let the message of the massive killing fly like fire and then at the place of prayer, we will keep not silence until God establishes Jerusalem as praise in the earth.
“Beloved, silence equals consent. The silence of good people is wicked than the utterance of wicked people. People who know what is correct but keep quiet or do nothing about a wrong thing cause more harm than the utterance of the wicked. And we are not going to keep silence; we are going to speak from the altar, we are going to speak at the place of prayer; we are going to speak to everyone who cares to hear that Nigeria cannot be dechristianized and desecularized; Nigeria cannot be Islamized; that the force of darkness that can islamize Nigeria has not been given birth to; and we are going to speak it with audacity. God has promised us that as we speak to His Ears, He will confirm what we say (Numbers 14:28). God is waiting for us to speak so He can confirm what we say. God performs the counsel of His servant and fulfill the words of His messenger.”
On his part, CAN President, Ayokunle called on Nigerians, especially Christian leaders to take bold step and speak against the killings in the country.
Also speaking at the event, Cardinal Onayekan asked Nigerians to learn from the past and shun killings.
He also urged the federal government to rehabilitate those that have been displaced internally as a result of the killings in the country.
Onaiyekan said: “Our methods of preaching and worship may differ, our outlooks, appearances, language, but we are still part of one body.
“The most important thing is that we should not allow our differences to hinder us from proclaiming and promoting our faith.
“We all call on one God and Jesus Christ prayed for all Christians to be one and at the higher levels efforts are being made to unite Catholics, Anglicans and Pentecostals so that we can together win this warfare.”
