‘They might have registered trees, streams’ – Ortom mocks APC over claim of 5 million registered members in Benue
Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, has reacted to the recent claim by the All Progressives Congress that they already have 5 million registered members in the state.
Governor Ortom’s comment is coming as the ruling PDP prepares to commence e-registration in the state.
In an interview, Governor Ortom faulted the claim by the APC on registration of 5 million members, saying, “Maybe it’s trees, they have also registered trees, streams and farms and other things.”
Asked how he plans to match APC and what figure of membership are the party is targeting in Benue State, Governor Ortom said, “Which 5 million? that is 419.
“Where are they? We won election here, we won three senatorial seats, we won 7 House of Reps seats, we won 22 House of Assembly seats and we won the governorship.
“So, where are that their 5 million people? That’s how they start rigging, that want to start the process of rigging.
“But we are not going to give them an inch. And I tell you, we are fully mobilized.
“We are not going to allow you. You can’t rig us where we are majority, it is impossible.
They attempted it in 2019, were they able to do it? This time they will fail too.
“Some of you saw what happened in Adikpo, we are doing the same thing in Ushongo, we are doing the same thing in Guma. More People are coming in (to APC).
“Common ward congresses, APC cannot conduct it well and you have seen the fallout.
“What we did at ward congresses, did you hear any rancour in PDP? That shows you that PDP is in charge.
“That their 5 million is 419, it is no were. Maybe it’s trees, they have also registered trees, streams and farms and other things.
“You cannot tell me that have taken place, but we are equal to the task”.
