President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed two prominent sons and daughters of Idoma land, Dr. Anthony Inalegwu Godwin and Dr. Ogbole Ene Lilian, into strategic federal positions, a move widely seen as a significant boost for Benue South’s representation in the current administration.

The appointments were among 26 new appointments into 10 federal government agencies and commissions announced on Monday by the Presidency.

Under the appointments, Dr. Anthony Inalegwu Godwin was named Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission, while Dr. Ogbole Ene Lilian was appointed Commissioner representing Benue State on the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission.

The appointments have been welcomed across Benue South, with many describing them as long-awaited recognition of the Idoma nation’s contributions to national development after months of agitation for greater inclusion in President Tinubu’s administration.

Meanwhile, Dr. Ogbole is set to convene a one-day conference in Abuja under the auspices of The North Central Agenda to showcase the achievements of President Tinubu’s administration in the North Central geopolitical zone.

The conference, themed “Economic, Structural and Infrastructural Transformation of North Central Geopolitical Zone under the President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda-led Government,” is scheduled to hold on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at the Main Auditorium of Merit House, Maitama, Abuja.

The event is expected to attract political leaders, traditional rulers, policymakers and stakeholders from across the North Central to review the impact of the Renewed Hope Agenda on the region and chart a path for sustained development.

Observers say the appointments of Inalegwu and Ogbole, coming on the eve of the high-profile conference on President Tinubu’s achievements, underscore what many see as renewed federal attention to Benue South and the Idoma people.

The appointments take immediate effect, according to a statement signed by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
