Tinubu’s loyalist, MC Oluomo sacked as NURTW national chairman, Baruwa faction takes over secretariat

The faction of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) led by Tajudeen Baruwa has taken over the union’s national secretariat in Abuja.

The development occurred early Monday when members of the Baruwa-led faction moved into the headquarters, marking a new twist in the ongoing leadership crisis within the union.

The NURTW has been embroiled in a prolonged leadership tussle between Baruwa and Ayinde Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo, since 2024.

MC Oluomo was elected National President of the union in November 2024. However, the leadership dispute later went to court, where judgment was reportedly delivered in favour of Baruwa.

Despite the court ruling, MC Oluomo has continued to function as President, deepening the division within the union.
