Troops ambush terrorists, recover arms, rescue hostages in Kaduna

The Nigerian Army has reported that its troops have effectively neutralized terrorists, recovered weapons, and rescued hostages during recent operations.

On September 17, 2024, soldiers conducting a sting operation in Kaduna State, based on reliable intelligence, intercepted terrorists attempting to move from Alawa Forest in Niger State to Birnin Gwari in Kaduna State. The ambush resulted in a fierce firefight, with two terrorists eliminated and others fleeing the scene. The troops recovered two AK-47 rifles, two magazines, and three motorcycles.

In a separate operation, troops acted on intelligence regarding terrorist movements in Hayin Nakwakina village, Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State. An ambush was set up, leading to the neutralization of two terrorists and the restoration of peace to the displaced village. The troops also recovered two motorcycles, a mobile phone, and machetes abandoned by the fleeing terrorists.

Responding to a distress call on September 17, 2024, troops rescued 20 hostages who had been abducted by terrorists along the Kwaga-Polewire axis in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area. After a shootout that forced the terrorists to flee, the hostages were safely recovered and reunited with their families.
