Troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA have intensified efforts against bandit groups in Sokoto State, dismantling multiple camps and capturing a key suspect linked to a notorious terrorist leader.

According to security analyst Zagazola Makama on X, the 248 Battalion and CIB VII launched an offensive from Maikumari village towards Rijiyan Zobe in Binji Local Government Area (LGA), following intelligence on a newly established Lakurawa bandit camp.

Upon arrival, troops found Fulani settlers engaged in normal activities, indicating that the area was not fully under bandit control. However, intelligence led them to Duchin Kaie, a strategic high-ground where the criminals had set up camp.

As troops advanced, they faced resistance from bandits who fled under superior firepower, leaving behind traces of blood. Soldiers then searched and destroyed the camp, recovering jerrycans of fuel, Nigerien military uniforms, food supplies, and other materials before setting them ablaze.

Expanding their mission, troops advanced through Karfe Binji Forest, Anada village, Soro Yanma, and Guhipto. Although no further direct contact was made, footprints and abandoned trails suggested the criminals had fled deeper into the terrain.

In a video obtained by Zagazola, troops were heard taunting the fleeing terrorists, daring them to fight, but the insurgents failed to respond.
