Troops of the Joint Task Force under Operation Hadin Kai have successfully thwarted an attempted incursion by Boko Haram/ISWAP fighters from Cameroon into Nigeria around the Galakura axis of Borno State.

Security expert Zagazola disclosed that the clash occurred at about 10:25 a.m. on Wednesday in the course of the ongoing Operation Desert Sanity V.

According to the sources, troops, working alongside members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), engaged the terrorists as they attempted to infiltrate Nigerian territory through the border corridor.

The troops reportedly brought superior firepower to bear on the insurgents, forcing them to retreat in confusion back towards the Cameroon side of the border.

Following the encounter, the troops launched a pursuit and conducted a thorough exploitation of the area, although no further contact was made with the fleeing elements.

Items recovered during the operation included two motorcycles, two bottles of palm oil, a sack of beans, one blanket, and other assorted materials believed to belong to the terrorists.

The sources added that troops have continued to dominate the densely forested border area to deny the insurgents any freedom of movement, noting that surveillance of the area remains active.

They further confirmed that the morale and combat effectiveness of the troops remain high.
