Troops uncover ISWAP bread factory in Timbuktu Triangle, Borno

Troops from Operation Lake Sanity III, operating under Operation Hadin Kai, have reportedly uncovered a hidden bread production facility belonging to the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) within their stronghold in Maisani, situated in the Timbuktu Triangle of Damboa Local Government Area in Borno State.

According to intelligence sources cited by security analyst and counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama on Monday, the joint efforts of the 199 Special Forces Battalion, Hybrid Forces, and Civilian JTF led to the discovery of the bread factory during an exploitation mission into the terrorists’ hideout on Sunday.

The sources revealed that the factory was dismantled, with seized items including 2 Lister generating plants, 1 baking machine, and various baking materials, as reported by Makama.

This revelation comes in the midst of a week-long clearance operation aimed at eradicating terrorist presence from the Timbuktu Triangle, encompassing Buk 1, 2, and 3, Talala, Ajigin, Dusula, Abulam, and Gorgi—a region known for sheltering extremist groups.

“These terrorist factions have been primarily responsible for attacks, ambushes, and incidents involving improvised explosive devices (IEDs) targeting the roads of Damboa, the Damaturu-Maiduguri Main Supply Route, assaults towards Askira, Buratai, Buni Yadi, and the destruction of the high-tension transmission line linking Borno and Yobe State,” stated Makama.

Despite the challenging terrain characterized by heavily fortified camps concealed under dense foliage and numerous IEDs planted across the Timbuktu Triangle, the troops have demonstrated unwavering combat efficiency, according to Makama.
