Troops eliminate notorious bandit leader ‘yellow aboki’ in Zamfara

Nigerian troops conducting clearance operations in Zamfara State have eliminated a notorious bandit leader known as ‘Yellow Aboki.’
Yellow Aboki was a close associate of the late terror kingpin, Hassan Bamamu.
Counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama disclosed the development on Monday via a post on his X handle, citing security sources.
According to Makama, Yellow Aboki was neutralized during a recent encounter with troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA in the North West of Tsafe LGA.
His death comes a week after the military’s successful operation that eliminated Hassan Dantawaye, also known as Bamamu.
Bamamu, a feared bandit commander, was one of Yellow Aboki’s closest allies. Reports indicate that after Bamamu’s death, Yellow Aboki had been consolidating his control over criminal activities in Zamfara.
Makama stated that the terrorist was believed to have been operating within Bamamu, Dan Mali, Agamalafiya, and Makera, coordinating violent attacks and kidnappings.
“The military has sustained its crackdown on bandit kingpins in identified enclaves across Zamfara, Sokoto, and other troubled areas in the North West.
“The sustained pressure has diminished the bandits’ capacity to confront troops. Instead, they have resorted to sporadic attacks in vulnerable communities with less security coverage,” Makama said.
