Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has instructed members of his newly inaugurated cabinet to visibly demonstrate their loyalty to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu by wearing outfits or accessories bearing the president’s insignia.

The governor gave the directive on Tuesday during the swearing-in ceremony of newly appointed commissioners and the inauguration of various boards and commissions in Benin City.

Okpebholo emphasized that allegiance to President Tinubu must go beyond mere words, noting that his emergence as governor was largely made possible through the president’s influence and support.

“This could not have happened if we did not have a responsible president. In the past, we had challenges because the president was not with us. But today, we say thank you,” he said.

He further warned that any commissioner who fails to wear the “Asiwaju cap” during Executive Council meetings would not be allowed to participate.

“I will not forgive any commissioner who is not wearing this cap. In our Exco meetings, if you come without your suit and this Asiwaju cap, you will go back,” the governor declared.

Okpebholo, however, reminded the new appointees that their positions were not rewards for political loyalty but calls to serve the people of Edo State with dedication, integrity, and measurable results.
