I started casting out demons at 17 — Gov Okpebholo

Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has recalled his teenage years. He said he became involved in spiritual activities and began “casting out demons” at about 17.

Okpebholo made the revelation during a church service at The Votage Church. He reflected on his youth and his experiences with spiritual battles and cult-related activities.

Speaking to young worshippers, the governor said their presence reminded him of his own teenage years.

“When I see young ones standing in the presence of God, I remember at 17, 18, I had also started casting out demons,” he said.

Okpebholo said his experiences as a young man helped him understand some challenges facing youths. He particularly mentioned insecurity and cultism.

“Fighting insecurity, especially cultism, is not a new thing to me. It is something that has been happening,” he added.

The governor also recalled the influence of the late Archbishop Benson Idahosa on his spiritual background.

The church’s lead pastor welcomed the governor during the service. He said the visit provided an opportunity to appreciate Okpebholo’s commitment to the people.

The pastor also led prayers for the progress of Edo State. He stressed the importance of leaders seeking spiritual guidance.

He encouraged continued efforts to promote peace and development across the state.

The Votage Church later issued a statement on the governor’s visit. The church said it was honoured to host Okpebholo.

It added that the congregation prayed for the peace, progress and prosperity of Edo State.
