Why pigeons refused to fly from Buhari’s hands – APC chieftain, Agbese

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress and staunch supporter of President Muhammadu has explained why pigeons refused to fly from the president’s hands during the Nigerian Armed Forces Remembrance Day.

IDOMA VOICE recalls that mild drama played on Friday out at the National Arcade when the pigeons, which symbolize peace refuse to leave the president’s hands or the cage.

A development, many people have attributed to bad omen.

However, Agbese believes that the pigeons felt so comfortable with him that they preferred to remain in his arms rather than fly away into an unknown destination.

He wrote, “As part of this year’s Armed Forces Remembrance Day,  President Buhari, is is traditionally-done, released some caged pigeons. His detractors have gone to town claiming that the released pigeons refused to fly away. They have interpreted that as a bad omen. I disagree. If anything, I believe that the pigeons recognized Buhari as a great leader. The pigeons felt so comfortable with him that they preferred to remain in his arms rather than fly away into an unknown, and possibly, a perilous future. I applaud the pigeons for their wisdom and sagacity.

“If the pigeons were angry with President Buhari, they would have flown far away from him. Instead, they remained in the warm and comfortable hands of the president. The pigeons were smart. Their fear may be that the wind would have blown them into Benue where they would have starved to death. Insects that the pigeons would have feasted on in a Benue, became smart. They have all flown away from the state. Only mosquitoes are left. Pigeons do not eat mosquitoes.”
