Popular Nollywood actor, Daniel Etim-Effiong, has shared that he married his wife, Toyosi, after his previous girlfriend turned down his marriage proposal.
Etim-Effiong made the revelation during a recent conversation with media personality, Chude Jideonwo, where he explained that he was ready for marriage, but his then-girlfriend wasn’t.
According to him, the breakup marked a turning point in his life, prompting his return to Nigeria from South Africa, where he eventually met Toyosi, who was the production manager on a project they both worked on.
“At that time, I was tired of managing several relationships. I told my girlfriend then that I wanted to get married, but she said she had other plans, graduate school in the U.S., and didn’t want to be tied down,” he said.
Disappointed but determined to move on, Etim-Effiong said the experience led him back to Nigeria, where he connected with Toyosi on both professional and personal levels.
“We had been talking before then, but we finally met during that project in Nigeria. I told her I really wanted to get married, and she said, ‘Let’s do it,’” he added.
DAILY POST recalls that the actor tied the knot with Toyosi in November 2017, just a year after their meeting. The couple welcomed their first child, a baby girl, in January 2019.
