The Federal Capital Territory, Abuja was on Saturday held to a standstill by supporters of the presidential candidate of Labour Party Peter Obi, with a one million man march.
The rally, which took off from the Unity Fountain, Maitama, Abuja, paralyzed both vehicular and human movements for hours.
The demonstrators, who were singing solidarity songs in support of the Labour Party presidential candidate, marched from the Unity Fountain to City Gate opposite the Moshood Abiola National Stadium amid heavy security.
The supporters said the fitness rally was organized to counter the notion in some quarters that Obi and his running mate, Datti Baba-Ahmed, have no physical structures beyond social media.
At the City Gate, some of the demonstrators told IDOMA TELEVISION that the rally was not bankrolled by any individual or group but selfless Nigerians who are tired of bad governance and desperately need a change in 2023.
61-year-old Obi is a former governor of Anambra State contesting the 2023 presidential election alongside top contenders like Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress, Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party and among others.
