Wike meets APC National Chairman, Ganduje as defection rumours thicken

Nyesom Wike, the Minister-designate, held a meeting with the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, in Abuja on Tuesday.

The encounter took place at Ganduje’s residence and was reported on Twitter by Wike’s close associate, @TopboyChriss, who tweeted: “Today, Nyesom Wike paid a visit to Alhaji Umar Ganduje, the National Chairman of APC, at his residence in Abuja.”

Just a few weeks ago, President Bola Tinubu nominated Wike as one of his ministerial appointees. Following this, Wike underwent screening and was granted clearance for the ministerial position by the Senate two weeks ago.

Wike, a former governor of Rivers State, remains a member of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Notably, during the presidential election, he chose not to support PDP’s candidate, Atiku Abubakar, instead opting to work in support of Tinubu during the electoral process.
