Wike orders immediate rehabilitation of dilapidated schools in Kabusa, Abuja

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has ordered the immediate rehabilitation of public schools in the Kabusa community of Abuja, expressing concern over the poor state of the school buildings.

Wike, who lamented the dilapidated condition of the structures, stated that if President Bola Tinubu were to see the state of the schools, he would likely lose his job as Minister.

Naija News reports that the directive was issued on Tuesday during the flag-off of rehabilitation works for the 9.8km Kabusa–Takushara road in Abuja.

The Minister emphasized that the existing school buildings were unfit for educational purposes and urgently required rehabilitation to provide an environment conducive to learning.

He remarked, “They said this is a school, is it not? Is this really a school?”

He continued, “I will not accept this as a school for our people to receive quality education. There will be an immediate upgrade to ensure this school meets the standards it should have.”

Wike added, “I’m sure if Mr. President sees this as the condition of our schools, I will lose my job, and I don’t want that. Therefore, we are going to urgently restore this school to a proper standard.”

The Minister also noted that, given Nigeria’s blessings, the citizens, particularly children, should not have to suffer. He encouraged Nigerians to pray for President Tinubu’s administration as it strives to improve the lives of citizens.
