Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has issued a strong warning to the Coordinator of the Satellite Towns Development Department (STDD), Abdulkadir Zulkiflu, threatening to sack him over the failure to clear refuse heaps in parts of the territory.

The minister delivered the ultimatum on Friday during an inspection tour of ongoing infrastructure projects across several satellite towns in the FCT.

The tour, which covered Karshi, Bwari and Kubwa, was conducted to evaluate the implementation of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda in the nation’s capital.

However, the inspection took a tense turn when Wike observed a large refuse dump along the Orozo–Karshi Road. Visibly displeased, the minister condemned the negligence and warned that he would take decisive action if such lapses persisted.

He cautioned that any continued negligence or failure to meet expected performance standards by Monday would attract severe consequences, including the immediate termination of those responsible.

Wike stressed that infrastructure development must go hand-in-hand with environmental sanitation, noting that progress cannot be achieved in an unclean environment.

According to him, any breakdown in refuse management or operational lapses in Karshi or Bwari would not be tolerated, adding that those found culpable would be held accountable.

Despite his concerns over sanitation, the minister expressed satisfaction with the pace of road construction in Karshi.

He addressed the prolonged delay surrounding the Apo–Karshi Road, a project that has troubled commuters for more than a decade, revealing that the original contract was terminated and reassigned to SCC Construction Company to ensure speedy completion.

Another major focus of the inspection was the 17-kilometre Bwari–Kubwa Road, which Wike described as a vital project expected to significantly boost economic activities between the two areas.

The minister also announced clear deadlines for the completion of the projects. He stated that the Bwari–Kubwa Road is scheduled for completion by May 3, 2026, while landscaping and other environmental enhancements are to be concluded before the end of the year.
