The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, is expected to issue a formal response in due course to comments made by former Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal, during a recent television interview.

Wike’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, confirmed this in a statement, stressing that the Minister would not allow Tambuwal’s remarks directed at him and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to go unanswered.

Tambuwal, speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today last Friday, had explained that his political decisions are shaped by principles of leadership rather than personal relationships. He noted that if presented with a choice between former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Wike, he would back Atiku to lead the country.

Reacting to the comments, Olayinka said the Minister had received several enquiries from journalists regarding his position on the matter. He added that Tambuwal’s comments extended beyond Wike, taking aim at President Tinubu as well.

“Such remarks will not be left without a response. The Minister will, at the appropriate time, make his position clear and Nigerians will understand what betrayal truly means and what integrity entails. Until then, we should keep our fingers crossed,” Olayinka stated.
