You will not make heaven if you have one wife – Gospel singer Bahati

Popular Kenyan gospel singer, Kevin Kioko, widely known as Bahati, has sparked a controversial debate by advocating for polygamy as a way to prevent many men from going to heaven. In a discussion on the “men’s corner” show with one of his workers, Baite, Bahati expressed his support for having multiple wives and challenged pastors who promote monogamous marriages.

During the conversation, Bahati questioned the Biblical basis for advocating one-wife marriages and demanded to know where the Bible specifically limits polygamy. He expressed his discomfort with contemporary pastors who encourage their followers to have only one wife without clear scriptural references.

In a video of their discussion shared on Diana Marua’s YouTube channel, Bahati remarked, “Why do pastors nowadays tell us to have only one wife? These pastors should show us in the Bible where God says we must have one wife. I feel like something that might prevent men from going to heaven is choosing to have only one wife. God will question why I allowed Solomon and David to have many wives, but you chose to have just one.”

Polygamy has been a topic of much debate and cultural significance in many societies, including Kenya. While it is legal in some countries and practiced by various communities, it is also controversial, especially when considered within the context of modern societal norms and religious beliefs.
