Amid the row over the Muslim-Muslim ticket, a former President of the Senate, Senator David Mark has appealed to Nigerian Christians to fully participate in politics in order to elect credible leaders.

Speaking in a statement on Thursday at the biennial conference of the Methodist Church Nigeria in Abuja, the former Senate President stated that the old assumption that the church should not get involved in politics remained a critical issue for debate in light of the country’s realities.

He said that Christians should get involved to sanitise the system.

According to him, “A lot of Christians believe that politics is a dirty game, but if politics is truly dirty, Christians should get involved to sanitise and clean it up to serve the purpose for the good of all.”
