In a recent assault by bandits on Yar Nasarawa village, Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State, six individuals have been confirmed deceased, with 10 others sustaining injuries.

The bandits conducted simultaneous attacks, targeting the village while residents were settling in for the night. Three houses and four motorcycles were set ablaze, and an unspecified number of villagers were reportedly abducted.

The same sources revealed that another attack occurred on Ruwangodiya village in the same local government area on Monday night. During this incident, the bandits rustled an unspecified number of domestic animals. A resident, requesting anonymity, shared, “The hoodlums also attacked Ruwan Godiya village in the same local government area, and residents are now tallying their losses.”

The spokesperson for the state police command, ASP Abubakar Aliyu, confirmed the incident in a statement on Tuesday. Aliyu disclosed that security forces have been deployed to the affected community to restore normalcy. The attack, which took place around 11:30 pm on February 19, 2024, involved suspected bandits armed with AK-47 rifles. They shot and killed six individuals, injured approximately 10 people, and set ablaze three houses and around 10 vehicles.

In response to the incident, the Commissioner of Police (CP) has mobilized the command’s tactical, operational, and intelligence units to the scene. They are actively combing the surrounding bushes in pursuit of the perpetrators, aiming for their diligent prosecution.

This attack follows closely on the heels of another assault a month ago, where bandits killed two residents and abducted 29 others in Dan Alhaji and Yandaka villages in the Batsari Local Government Area of the State.
