66th Independence: Tinubu worsened Nigeria’s condition to stage four cancer — Momodu

A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Dele Momodu, has criticised President Bola Tinubu’s Independence Day speech, accusing him of worsening Nigeria’s economic condition since assuming office.

Momodu made the comment in a post on X on Thursday, following Tinubu’s address to Nigerians as the country marked its 66th Independence anniversary.

He faulted the President for comparing Nigeria to a cancer patient who was being kept alive with painkillers before his administration took over in 2023.

Momodu said Tinubu, who presented himself as a doctor capable of treating the country’s problems, should have prevented the situation from deteriorating further.

He said Nigeria was, at worst, at stage two of cancer when Tinubu assumed office and accused the administration of allowing the situation to worsen to stage four.

“Today was meant to be a happy day, but your speech made it feel like a sad day instead.

“My heart felt heavy as you compared Nigeria to a cancer patient who only survived by taking painkillers, and then you came as a famous doctor who could finally help.

“You were supposed to stop it from getting worse and not let it turn into stage-four cancer. Your first prescription on day one was a huge mistake,” he said.
