1. The National Orientation Agency (NOA), Benue State Directorate, paid a visit to the paramount ruler of the Tiv nation, His Royal Majesty, Prof James Ayatse, as part of the agency’s plan to ensure peaceful 2023 elections and effective implementation of government policies and programmes in the state.
The State Director, Mr Joseph Ijir, who led the delegation to the TIV’s Palace in Gboko, informed that the challenges bedevilling Nigeria at the moment require double efforts in orientating the people towards attitudinal change and good conduct in the interest of peace and national development.
2. A human rights group, Benue Coalition For Human Rights Protection (BCHRP), has condemned incessant acts of jungle justice in Benue State.
The coalition made this condemnation in a statement signed by its Coordinator, Mr Jimmie Adzande, as part of activities to commemorate the 2022 World Humanitarian Day.
3. Mark Gbillah, member representing Benue Gwer east/Gwer west in the house of representatives, says the new cash withdrawal limit of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) is “extremely harsh”.
He said Godwin Emefiele, CBN governor, has been taking actions beyond his constitutional mandate.
4. The Forum of Presidents of Youth Organizations in the Middle Belt on Friday called on President Muhammadu Buhari to immediately carry out a national dialogue to address the worsening security situation in the country.
The Forum also wants Buhari to address the agitations and concerns being expressed by Nigerians.
5. The Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom says the Federal Government is not sincere to ending insecurity in the country.
Governor Ortom spoke Thursday, December 8th, 2022 when he paid a sympathy visit on his Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Chief Ekpe Dennis Ogbu who was recently kidnapped by herdsmen but released unharmed.
