The transition of leadership in Ondo State reached a solemn milestone as Acting Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa was officially sworn in as the Governor of the Sunshine State. The poignant ceremony took place at the Cocoa Conference Hall in the governor’s office in Akure, the state capital, and was administered by Chief Judge Justice Olusegun Odusola at 5:18 pm.

In his opening remarks, Governor Aiyedatiwa expressed a heavy heart as he acknowledged the honor and responsibility bestowed upon him following the unfortunate passing of Governor Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu, his esteemed principal and leader.

“Today’s event has placed a burden on all of us to stay together as one because we have the onerous responsibility to continue to sustain the legacies of Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu, which was good governance,” remarked Governor Aiyedatiwa.

Highlighting the remarkable achievements and legacies of the late Governor Akeredolu, the new leader assured the indigenes of Ondo State of his commitment to continued progress and prioritizing their welfare.

“Under my watch, this administration shall continue to advance the welfare of the people. We shall always place the people first in every decision we take,” he emphasized.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by various dignitaries, including judges, top government officials, the secretary to the state government, members of the state cabinet, the state All Progressives Congress (APC) chairman, and members of the state house of assembly. The occasion marked the formal assumption of leadership by Governor Aiyedatiwa, following the passing of Governor Akeredolu earlier in the week.
