Nigeria at 64: FG declares October 1 public holiday

President Bola Tinubu’s administration has announced Tuesday, October 1, as a public holiday to mark Nigeria’s 64th Independence Day anniversary.

In a statement released on Saturday, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, confirmed that the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, made the declaration on behalf of the government.

The Minister congratulated Nigerians at home and abroad, acknowledging their dedication and perseverance, while assuring them their efforts will not go unrecognized.

Echoing the anniversary’s theme, he encouraged Nigerians to reflect on the sacrifices of past heroes and unite to build the nation of their dreams. Dr. Tunji-Ojo also urged citizens to remain committed to nation-building while extending wishes for a Happy Independence Day.
