2019 Elections: Benue IDP’s to get voting points

Ahead of the next general elections, the Independent National Electoral Commission has made provision for Benue Internally Displaced Persons to exercise their franchise
The INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC, for Benue state, Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda, disclosed this during a courtesy call in his office by the officials of Benue Independent Electoral Commission, BSIEC led by the Chairman Dr. Joseph Loko
Dr. Nentawe explained that there is going to be 102 IDPs voting point that will be based on the council wards of the people within the IDPs camps and not voting units.
He added that INEC is poised to conduct a hitch-elections that will reflect the wishes of majority of the populace.
He said that there is collaboration with officials of Immigration service to separate immigrants from indigenes on the day of election.
He noted that the commission has included people with disabilities in the electoral activities to give them a sense of belonging while he emphasized that the election will witnessed a significant number of foreign observers to enhance the credibility of the election
Dr. Nentawe said the commission has met with members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), for provision of vehicles transport election materials on the day of election, emphasizing that only vehicles that have passed road safety test, will be allowed to transport election materials.
He said that Benue state will host the monitoring center for foreign observers in the North Central region.
In his vote of thanks, Secretary Benue State Independent Electoral Commission Barr. Manaseh Seriki thanked the Resident Electoral commissioner for the meaningful engagement, while praying for God to give him strength to carryout his duties diligently.
