The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Labour Party (LP) has officially endorsed its 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, as the party’s flag bearer for the 2027 general election.

The party also confirmed its support for the re-election bid of Governor Alex Otti of Abia State and Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour as its gubernatorial candidate in Lagos State. The Labour Party expressed confidence in Obi’s ability to unseat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Bola Tinubu in the upcoming presidential race.

In a statement issued by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Abayomi Arabambi, and made available to Vanguard in Abeokuta, Ogun State, the party emphasized the growing support for Obi, particularly among Nigerian youths, citing dissatisfaction with Tinubu’s policies, which they described as unfavorable to the masses.

Arabambi stated, “Our major focus is getting the APC out of office through democratic means if Nigerians so desire, and not through illegitimate methods.”

He reiterated the Labour Party’s commitment to presenting Obi as its presidential candidate for the 2027 election while reaffirming its determination to back Governor Otti in Abia and Rhodes-Vivour in Lagos.

“We are united in our resolve to bring about a better Nigeria under the leadership of Peter Obi,” Arabambi added.

The party’s leadership expressed optimism that Obi’s candidacy and the Labour Party’s vision would resonate with Nigerians, ensuring significant victories in the 2027 elections.
