BREAKING: JAMB admits to errors in 2025 UTME results
The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially admitted to errors in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), acknowledging the concerns raised by candidates and stakeholders.
This admission came from the Registrar of JAMB, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, during a press briefing held in Abuja on Wednesday.
“What should have been a moment of joy has changed due to one or two errors,” Oloyede stated, referring to the ongoing issues with the UTME results.
Despite efforts to ensure a seamless process, Oloyede explained that the board had encountered technical difficulties, admitting that, “we set all machineries in order, regardless, there were still errors.”
This revelation follows widespread reports of discrepancies in candidates’ scores, with the board receiving an unusually high number of complaints. Candidates across the country had raised concerns over seemingly inaccurate results, fueling frustration among applicants and their families.
The controversy intensified following reports of poor performances in the UTME, with the majority of candidates failing to secure a high score. According to the results, 78 percent of candidates scored less than 200 out of the 400 maximum obtainable points, raising questions about the integrity and fairness of the examination.
In response to the growing concerns, the JAMB Registrar reassured the public that the board was committed to addressing the errors. “If any glitches are identified, appropriate remedial measures will be implemented promptly,” Oloyede assured.
The board has promised to review the discrepancies and rectify the issues as soon as possible, though it remains unclear how many candidates will be affected by the errors.
