Many feared killed, homes burnt as suspected herders invade Benue community

Several people are feared to have lost their lives, while many others suffered injuries following an attack by suspected armed herders on Sai Community in Katsina-Ala Local Government Area of Benue State on Tuesday.

According to intelligence sources, the assailants invaded the community in large numbers, shooting indiscriminately and setting houses on fire.

The attack forced many residents to flee into surrounding bushes in search of safety.

The sources disclosed that security operatives responded swiftly after receiving distress calls and were deployed to the area to confront the attackers and restore calm.

Victims who sustained injuries were taken to nearby hospitals for medical attention, while security personnel launched search operations to locate missing residents and prevent additional attacks.

The assault also left several homes and other valuable property destroyed, with many families displaced from the community.

Troops of the Nigerian Army, alongside other security agencies, have intensified patrols in Sai and neighbouring communities to prevent further violence and reassure residents.
