KADVS arrests seven suspected bandits, recovers firearm in Kaduna
The Kaduna State Vigilance Service (KADVS) has arrested seven suspected armed bandits during a midnight operation in Kubau Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The suspects were apprehended at about 2:12 a.m. on June 30, 2026, during an operation led by the Kubau Sector Coordinator, Abubakar Shuaibu, following a carefully planned ambush along the Ikara–Zuntu route, an area security operatives say is frequently used by bandits and kidnappers to launch attacks on residents, especially on market days.
According to KADVS, operatives intercepted a Golf 3 vehicle with registration number PHC 146 XA conveying the suspects.
A search of the vehicle reportedly led to the recovery of one locally made firearm, ₦350,750 in cash, six mobile phones, charms, iron rods and other items suspected to be linked to criminal activities.
The suspects were identified as Bello Tarmo, Umar Alhassan, Shedi Tukur, who was identified as the driver, Iliya Ibrahim and Saleh Haruna, all said to be residents of Ikara, Zuntu, Kargi and Anchau communities in Kaduna State.
In a separate operation, KADVS operatives also arrested a suspect identified simply as Dini, a resident of Kano State, for allegedly stealing metal materials from a mining company in Kubau Local Government Area.
The vigilance service said all the suspects, along with the recovered exhibits, have been handed over to the Kaduna State Police Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Kaduna for further investigation and possible prosecution.
KADVS said the arrests reflect its continued efforts to complement other security agencies in tackling banditry and other criminal activities across Kaduna State.
