Umuma Ndiagu community in Ezeagu Local Government Area of Enugu State has been thrown into turmoil after residents uncovered a native doctor’s secret underground site filled with the bodies of alleged victims.

The native doctor, known as Ezeani and popularly called “Ichie Million,” is accused of kidnapping people—including pregnant women and children—and burying them alive for ritual purposes.

The grim discovery followed an attempted abduction of a 13-year-old girl, which led to the uncovering of several bodies in soakaway pits within Ezeani’s compound. The doctor’s property includes a lavish home and several luxury vehicles.

In a viral video, the rescued girl recounted how she was grabbed and thrown into a pit but was saved by neighborhood watch members who heard her cries.

Community members described the horror they found. One resident said, “We caught the killers. There are many dead bodies inside here. We just rescued a 13-year-old child they wanted to use for rituals.”

Another suspect, who claimed to be a security guard hired to protect the native doctor’s compound, was caught and detained by residents. Although denying involvement in the killings, he admitted to participating in rituals at the site and named two alleged accomplices.

Ezeani is currently on the run, while his wives were reportedly arrested by community members. Angry youths are said to have burnt down his house and destroyed his vehicles.

Further investigations revealed that Ezeani was recently seen flaunting large sums of money at a wedding on social media.

Authorities are yet to comment on the incident.
