Fire guts BSU Second Gate Labour Market

A raging fire has broken out at the Labour Market near the Second Gate of Benue State University (BSU), throwing the busy commercial area into chaos and panic.

Eyewitnesses say the fire started abruptly and is spreading rapidly across the market, threatening dozens of shops, stalls, and surrounding buildings. Thick black smoke has enveloped the area, drastically reducing visibility and complicating efforts to evacuate people and rescue goods.

The exact cause of the outbreak remains unknown as of press time, but traders and residents are in a state of distress, many seen frantically attempting to salvage their belongings while others flee the scene in fear.

“We’re losing everything. This market is our only source of income,” one distraught trader cried out as flames consumed rows of wooden stalls.

Residents and bystanders have issued an urgent appeal to the Benue State Fire Service, calling for immediate deployment of fire-fighting equipment and personnel to contain the blaze and prevent further devastation.
