Benue South 2027: SAM-D unveils 1,334-member structure for Abba Moro’s re-election, targets 100,000 votes
A political support group backing the Senate Minority Leader and Senator representing Benue South, Senator Patrick Abba Moro, has announced plans to mobilise over 100,000 votes across the district ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The group, known as Senator Abba Moro’s Disciples (SAM-D), officially unveiled its structure and grassroots mobilisation strategy, describing itself as a movement of loyal supporters committed to securing Moro’s re-election in 2027.
According to a statement issued by the group, SAM-D plans to establish a robust grassroots network across the nine local government areas and 102 wards of Benue South Senatorial District.
The group said it would recruit 12 executive members in each ward and local government area, creating a structure of about 1,334 officials across the district.
Speaking on the objectives of the movement, the organisers said they are targeting at least 1,000 supporters in each ward, a strategy they believe will translate into more than 100,000 votes for the Senate Minority Leader in the next election.
The group said it would be formally inaugurated on August 8, 2026, in Otukpo.
SAM-D noted that its mission includes grassroots mobilisation, voter education, community outreach, media campaigns and promotion of what it described as Senator Moro’s achievements in infrastructure, education and community development.
The organisers also disclosed that a fully equipped office for the group has been donated by Chief Obogo Uloja, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the movement. The office is located at M&G Plaza, opposite Aleji Filling Station, Otukpo.
According to the statement, volunteers have already begun registering across the district ahead of the inauguration.
The group said its activities would include ward-to-ward campaigns, town hall meetings, voter registration drives, social media engagement and visits to project sites.
SAM-D further urged supporters of the Senate Minority Leader to join the movement, insisting that Moro’s voice remains critical to the political and developmental aspirations of Benue South.
Senator Moro, a former Minister of Interior, currently represents Benue South Senatorial District in the Senate and serves as Minority Leader of the upper legislative chamber.
