Benue govt denies rumoured removal of Assembly Speaker
The Benue State Government has refuted social media reports claiming that the Speaker of the 10th State House of Assembly, Hon. Aondona Dajoh, has been removed from office.
In a statement on Friday, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Social Media, Comr. Asortar James Asortar, dismissed the speculation as “fake news” allegedly sponsored by opposition media to mislead the public.
According to him, Governor Hyacinth Alia was seen on Thursday night at the Government House, Makurdi, inspecting newly acquired vehicles for members of the Assembly in the company of the Speaker.
He said, “In reality, His Excellency, Governor Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia was observed late last night at the Government House inspecting new vehicles designated for some assembly members, alongside Mr. Speaker.”
The governor’s aide stressed that the development underscored the cordial working relationship between the executive and the legislature in the state.
He further urged the public to disregard the rumours, noting that such misinformation was intended to cause unnecessary confusion in Benue.
