Benue: Six arrested as security forces storm bandits’ hideouts in Katsina-Ala
The Benue State Police Command says its tactical operatives have apprehended six individuals during a coordinated raid on suspected bandits’ enclaves in the Sankara axis of Katsina-Ala Local Government Area.
According to security sources, the operation was carried out around 10 a.m. on September 27 at several notorious black spots in the area.
Those arrested were identified as Harrison Innocent, 30; Chidera Aningene, 23; Blessing Ula, 27; Godwin Chukwuma, 40; Paul David, 27; and John Nevgba, 18.
“They were caught with substances believed to be hard drugs, which they allegedly supply to bandits operating in the region,” one source revealed.
The suspects are currently in custody while the State Criminal Investigation Department has opened a full probe. Security personnel say the raids will continue as part of ongoing efforts to rid the state of criminal gangs.
Meanwhile, the Nigerian Army’s 401 Brigade has also launched clearance operations in the Sankara belt, advancing toward Takum in neighboring Taraba State to join forces with troops targeting bandits who fled to the Peva (Chanchangi) hideout.
Sources added that tactical teams remain on high alert, with further updates expected as the operation progresses.
