Akor Adams’ mother hospitalised as striker dedicates AFCON goal to her
Super Eagles forward Akor Adams has revealed that his mother is currently hospitalised, as he dedicated his maiden Africa Cup of Nations goal to her.
Adams was among Nigeria’s standout performers in the Super Eagles’ emphatic 4–0 victory over the Mambas of Mozambique in Fès on Monday night.
The Sevilla striker capped off the dominant display by scoring Nigeria’s fourth goal with a sublime finish 15 minutes from time, after earlier providing a brilliant cut-back assist for Ademola Lookman’s opening goal.
Speaking after the match, the 25-year-old disclosed that his mother was unable to watch the game due to health challenges.
“The goal is dedicated to my mum. She was supposed to be here, but she’s in the hospital right now,” Adams said in the mixed zone.
Akor Adams has now scored three goals in eight appearances for the Super Eagles.
