Army opens Direct Short Service Commission recruitment

The Nigerian Army has announced the commencement of its Direct Short Service Commission (DSSC) recruitment for qualified Nigerians interested in joining the military as commissioned officers.

In a statement released on the exercise, the Army explained that the DSSC intake is open to both civilians and serving personnel of the Armed Forces who meet the required criteria.

Successful applicants will be commissioned into various professional corps within the Nigerian Army, including the Nigerian Army Engineers, Nigerian Army Signals, Nigerian Army Medical Corps, Nigerian Army Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, and the Nigerian Army Education Corps.

The statement clarified that the recruitment process comes at no cost, stressing that applications are to be submitted exclusively online.

Eligible candidates are expected to apply through the official Nigerian Army recruitment portal from January 7 to February 4, 2026.

Applicants were also warned to be vigilant against fraudsters, as the Army does not charge any fees at any stage of the recruitment exercise.
