Bayero University, Kano (BUK), has expelled sixty students from various faculties after they were found guilty of alleged examination malpractice.

The disciplinary action was approved by the university’s Senate during its 43rd statutory meeting held on January 7, 2026, following a review of reports submitted by relevant academic and disciplinary committees.

The announcement, released on BUK’s official Facebook page on Friday, confirmed that investigations established that the affected students engaged in different forms of misconduct that breached the institution’s examination rules.

“After reviewing the cases, the Senate approved the expulsion of the students in accordance with the university’s examination regulations,” the statement read.

BUK further explained that the decision was guided by the institution’s General Examinations and Academic Regulations (GEAR), and where applicable, the General Regulations Governing Postgraduate Studies (GRGPS).
