Angela Okorie rearrested over alleged bail lawyer fee refusal
Nollywood actress Angela Okorie has been taken back into custody by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command just hours after being released from the Suleja Correctional Centre.
Naija News reports that her rearrest followed warnings from fellow actor Stanley Ontop, who had alerted the public about a possible re-detention shortly after her release.
In an Instagram video, actress Doris Ogala detailed the circumstances of Angela’s immediate rearrest on Tuesday, linking it to a dispute over payment to the Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) who facilitated her bail.
Doris Ogala said, “You see, one thing is for someone to cut their clothes according to their size. Angela has been arrested again. As a matter of fact, I’m going to the police station now.
You see, when Angela was arrested by Mercy, she called a friend of her or village person. I don’t know how they relate. To help her get a SAN.
“And the SAN charged them N5 million. I think the SAN was the one who even facilitated the bail and all that.
Now when Angela knew that they have granted her bail according to the lady, Angela started saying that she didn’t ask her to get a SAN and she wasn’t going to pay the money, and meanwhile this lady has deposited.”
Angela Okorie was first arrested on January 26 in Lagos before being flown to Abuja for arraignment at the Federal High Court.
She faces charges of cyberstalking and cyberbullying following a petition filed by her colleague, Mercy Johnson Okojie.
