FCT Council election: Benue community in Abuja rallies support for ADC candidate Moses Ogidi Paul
Ahead of Saturday’s Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Area Council elections, the Benue community in Abuja has mounted visible support for Dr. Moses Ogidi Paul, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate contesting the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) chairmanship seat in the February 21, 2026 polls.
Dr Moses is a native of Otukpa in Ogbadibo LGA of Benue State, IDOMA VOICE reports.
Members of various ethnic groups, resident and working in various parts of Abuja and neighbouring Nasarawa State, have publicly endorsed Dr. Paul’s candidacy.
Supporters described his bid as a rare opportunity for “a Benue son to lead in the nation’s capital, especially at a time when the Idoma community has yet to produce a governor in its home state.”
The community’s outreach has included rallies, social media engagement, and organised meetings with residents and party supporters across AMAC wards.
Supporters from the Benue diaspora have spotlighted Dr. Paul’s leadership credentials and development vision, casting him as a candidate capable of delivering inclusive governance and grassroots transformation.
They argue that his professional experience, community network, and commitment to local issues resonate strongly with residents beyond ethnic lines, helping build a coalition of support within AMAC.
Social media posts and community broadcasts have amplified messages urging registered voters to identify with Dr. Paul’s people-centered agenda, which prioritises improvements in waste management, infrastructure, education, and local healthcare services. The messaging also underscores the importance of unity among diverse ethnic groups in Abuja in shaping the future of local governance.
Dr. Moses Ogidi Paul, often referred to in campaign materials as “Dr. Mo,” is a seasoned community advocate and academic who emerged as the ADC’s official candidate for AMAC chairmanship ahead of the 2026 council election.
The ADC has been actively mobilising grassroots support across the FCT, with prominent political leaders, such as ex-Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi and support groups engaging in voter outreach ahead of the polls.
