2027: I’ll be on the ballot by the special grace of God – Daniel Onjeh declares

Former Benue South Senatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Daniel Onjeh, has hinted that he will contest in the 2027 general election.

Onjeh gave the indication in a brief post on his Facebook page on Saturday, writing: “2027: I’ll be on the ballot by the special grace of God.”

The post has fuelled fresh speculation over his political future, with sources suggesting he may defect to the Social Democratic Party, SDP, to pursue his senatorial ambition.

IDOMA VOICE  recalls that Onjeh dramatically withdrew from the APC senatorial primary election for Benue South at the eleventh hour after alleging that the process had been compromised.

He had accused a chieftain of the party, Moses Ternenge, of attempting to impose what he described as an unpopular candidate on the people of Benue South, insisting that the primary lacked credibility.

Onjeh’s withdrawal paved the way for the emergence of Franis Ottah Agbo as a candidate in the contest.

A longstanding figure in Benue South politics, Onjeh has flown the APC flag in the senatorial election three times — in 2015, the 2016 rerun election, and the 2023 general election.

Although he has yet to disclose the platform on which he intends to contest in 2027, political observers believe his latest post is a clear indication that he remains in the race, with growing speculation that the SDP could become his next political destination.
