Dr. Moses Paul, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate in the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) chairmanship election, has rejected the officially declared results, describing the process as flawed and not reflective of the will of the people.

Addressing journalists, Dr. Paul said: “I stand before you today not as a man diminished by the outcome of Saturday’s event, but as a man empowered by a political movement… It is written not in ink, but in sacrifice.”

He condemned alleged irregularities during the polls, including curfews restricting voter movement, intimidation of ADC members by security agencies, widespread vote buying, and delays in election materials.

He also highlighted the tragic death of a voter, Musa Abubakar, at the Gwagwa polling unit while trying to protect his vote. “I have since visited his family and ensured that his children will be placed on scholarship,” Dr. Paul stated.

Dr. Paul praised the resilience and courage of Abuja residents, saying: “To the young men and women who stood in the sun for hours, who walked distances they had never known… you are the authors of a new chapter.”

He stressed that the movement was about principles, not titles: “Our movement was never built on the fragile foundation of titles; it was built on the enduring foundation of truth. And truth does not expire with an election.”

The ADC candidate vowed to continue his political movement, promising accountability to the people of AMAC: “This is not the end of our journey. This is the beginning of a permanent awakening… One day, a new AMAC will emerge. One day, a new Nigeria will rise.”
