War: Ex-Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad killed in US–Israel strike
Former Iranian leader, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, has reportedly been killed in what Iranian media described as a coordinated air raid carried out by Israel and the United States.
According to a Sunday report by the Iranian Labor News Agency (ILNA), the alleged strike hit Ahmadinejad’s home in the Narmak area of northeastern Tehran.
The report stated that the former president and several members of his security team lost their lives in the attack.
International outlets indicated the operation may have taken place late Saturday night. However, there has been no immediate independent verification of the incident.
Ahmadinejad governed Iran from 2005 until 2013. Before assuming the presidency, he served as governor of Ardabil Province and later as mayor of Tehran.
After completing his second term in office, he was appointed to the Expediency Discernment Council by former Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei.
The 48-member body plays an advisory role to the Supreme Leader’s office and helps resolve disagreements within the country’s political structure.
The development comes amid escalating tensions, following coordinated strikes reportedly launched on Saturday by Israeli forces and the United States on multiple targets inside Iran.
