Many dead as Boko terrorists hit Woro in Kwara

A suspected bomb explosion has rocked Woro community in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State, with many residents feared dead.

The incident, which occurred on Monday, has thrown the community into panic, although no group has claimed responsibility for the blast. Residents, however, suspect that the explosion may have been caused by an Improvised Explosive Device (IED), possibly linked to Boko Haram insurgents.

The latest incident comes barely a month after a deadly attack on Woro and neighbouring Nuku communities, where no fewer than 75 people were reportedly killed and several houses set ablaze by suspected terrorists.

Following that attack, President Bola Tinubu had ordered the deployment of an army battalion to the area to restore security and prevent further violence.

As of the time of filing this report, authorities are yet to issue an official statement on the latest explosion.

Efforts to reach the Kwara State Police Public Relations Officer, Toun Ejire-Adeyemi, for comments were unsuccessful.
