The senator representing Benue South Senatorial District and Senate Minority Leader, on Saturday and Sunday, commissioned the newly constructed and fully equipped Primary Healthcare Center at Udegi-Ito, in Obi LGA, and PCI water project at Okpoga in Okpokwu LGA.

In his addresses at the two sites, Senator Moro said his desire for Zone C was to bridge the gap in infrastructural deficit caused by several years of neglect and abandonment by the Benue State government. He said he would continue to use his position to facilitate more laudable projects that would have direct impacts on the lives of the people.

The senator said the health of his constituents was paramount, stating that he had built twelve healthcare centers across Benue South, which he said would be unveiled in the days to come.

The senator congratulated the benefitting communities and charged the people to guard the facilities against vandalism. At Udegi-Ito, the senator said he would approach NYSC to mobilize doctor and nurse to the healthcare centre to start operation pending the deployment of workers to the place.

His words;

“I entered politics because I want to make a difference. Everybody has a page in history, people should judge me when I’m no longer in the stage. Don’t judge me halfway, wait for me let me finish, then I can be judged whether I made a difference or not.

“I don’t talk much, I let my works speak for me. For over 100 years, the people in Udegi have looked for water, today we have found water here. It’s God that’s working.

“For the people of this community and its environ, I congratulate you. Now that we have gotten water here, we will drill another one in the community and go ahead to search for water in the other communities.

“Please don’t allow people to vandalize the place. I will approach NYSC to mobilize doctor and nurse to the healthcare center pending when medical personnel are recruited to work here.

“I’m here to commission the project to tell naysayers that this is what I have done, what I’m doing and what I will continue to do for my people.”

Earlier in his speech, the acting Ad’Utu Obi, Chief Emmanuel Odeh Obagi, thanked Senator Moro for bringing the healthcare centre and borehole to his community. He said Udegi-Ito had never had it so good. He mentioned the ongoing reconstruction of the Otukpo-Obi-Oju road by the senator, a project he said had reduced their travel time from Udegi to Obarike-Ito, Otukpo and Oju.

Chief Emmanuel said the solar-powered borehole that accompanies the healthcare centre was the first functional borehole in the community. He said they had made several attempts to drill borehole in the past but to no avail. He assured the senator that they would collectively guard the project and ensure it’s sustained.

The contractor, Frederick Agada, thanked Senator Moro for giving him the privilege to build the healthcare centre and rehabilitate the PCI water project. He equally commended the communities for their support that saw to the the successful completion of the projects. He charged the communities to protect the facilities for their own good.
