Tinubu approves N86bn Adikpo–Otukpo road project for Benue
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the reconstruction of the Adikpo–Ajayi–Tese–Akpa–Otukpo Road, with N86 billion earmarked for the project serving Benue and Cross River states.
The approval forms part of 27 major road projects valued at over N3.9 trillion approved by the Federal Executive Council (FEC) to improve road infrastructure across 15 states.
The Adikpo–Otukpo Road is one of the key federal highways in Benue, linking communities in the state’s northern and southern senatorial districts while also providing a strategic connection to Cross River State.
The nationwide approvals, announced by the Minister of Works, David Umahi, cover projects in Adamawa, Benue, Cross River, Ebonyi, Ekiti, Kogi, Kwara, Lagos, Niger, Ondo, Osun, Oyo, Plateau, Taraba and Yobe states.
Umahi also disclosed that the first 118-kilometre section of the Abuja–Kaduna–Kano Highway, valued at N137 billion, has been completed, while construction on the remaining 164 kilometres is expected to be completed by November.
The N86 billion allocation for the Adikpo–Ajayi–Tese–Akpa–Otukpo Road is expected to improve connectivity, ease the movement of people and goods, and boost economic activities across Benue and neighbouring Cross River State.
