Army arrests suspected terrorist collaborator, recovers cash, motorcycle in Kebbi
Troops of the Nigerian Army have arrested a suspected terrorist informant and logistics supplier during a routine patrol in Arewa Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
The arrest was disclosed on Tuesday by security analyst and Lake Chad region counter-insurgency expert, Zagazola Makama, in a post on his X account.
According to Makama, the suspect was apprehended at about 12:14 p.m. on Saturday in Kangiwa while troops of the 8 Division were on a routine patrol along the Falde–Gedere road.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect allegedly provided intelligence and logistical support to terrorist groups operating in the area.
Security personnel recovered a motorcycle, a mobile phone, and N69,000 in cash from the suspect. Investigators believe the items may be connected to the suspect’s alleged activities.
The suspect is currently in military custody as investigations continue.
The arrest forms part of ongoing military operations aimed at dismantling terrorist support networks and disrupting the movement, supply chains, and activities of criminal elements operating across parts of Nigeria’s North-West.
