Edwin Ogbegbagha confirmed as new Taraba Commissioner of Police

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the appointment of Commissioner of Police Edwin Ogbegbagha as the new head of the Taraba State Police Command.

The decision was reached following an interview conducted at the commission’s corporate headquarters in Jabi, Abuja. The session was chaired by the PSC Chairman, DIG Hashimu Salihu Argungu (retd.), according to a statement issued by the commission’s Head of Protocol and Public Relations, Torty Njoku Kalu.

The commission urged Ogbegbagha to uphold professionalism, impartiality and neutrality in his new assignment. It particularly stressed the importance of maintaining public safety and ensuring fair policing as Nigeria moves towards the 2027 general elections.

Ogbegbagha takes the position with more than 25 years of policing experience. Before his latest appointment, he served as the Force Provost Marshal at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, a role he assumed in March 2026.

The PSC expressed confidence that his experience would support the effective discharge of his responsibilities in Taraba State.
