Benue PDP releases 2019 local council polls guideline, schedule of activities

Guidelines and schedule of activities towards the November 30th, 2019 Local Government Elections in Benue State have been approved by the State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

At a State Executive Committee Meeting of the party held on 30th September, 2019 at its State Secretariat in Makurdi, the following guidelines and schedule of activities were approved and released for the benefit of members and the general public;

1. Commencement of Sale of Nomination and Expression of Interest Forms – 04/10/2019

2. Close of Sale of Nomination and Expression of Interest Forms – 09/10/2019

3. Screening of Aspirants – 10 & 11/10/2019

4. Screening Appeals – 12/10/2019

5. Publication of List of Successful Aspirants – 13/10/2019

6. Ward Congresses – 14/10/2019

7. Ward Congresses Re-run & Appeals – 15/10/2019

8. Local Government Area Congresses – 17/10/2019

9. Local Government Area Congresses Re-run & Appeals – 19/10/2019

10. Submission of List of Party’s Candidates to BSIEC – 21/10/2019

11. Cost of Forms:

(i) Chairmanship-
(a) Nomination – N500,000.00
(b) Expression of Interest – N100,000.00

(ii) Councillorship-
(a) Nomination – N200,000.00
(b) Expression of Interest – N50,000.00

12. Party officials at the various levels intending to aspire to any elective position in this election MUST resign from their offices within 14 days with effect from 30/9/2019.

13. Party officials who have taken up salaried appointments anywhere MUST resign from their offices with IMMEDIATE EFFECT.

14. Replacement of a party official who has resigned from office MUST be made from the immediate area of the erstwhile official.

15. All party officials MUST maintain the highest standards of integrity before, during and after the conduct of the party’s primary elections, and not be involved in any acts inimical to the principle of internal democracy in the party.

16. All officials and members of the party MUST see themselves as ambassadors of the party and work hard in their respective localities to mobilise popular support for the party at the coming polls.

The Executive Committee meeting was chaired by State Chairman, Sir John Ngbede, and had in attendance members of the State Working Committee, the State Assistant Officials, Local Government Area Chairmen of the party as well as Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Titus Uba, and members of the PDP Caucus in the Assembly.
